Write for us
We welcome thoughtful pitches about materials, making, care, repair and the meanings objects gather over time. A strong contribution gives readers a clear idea to follow, grounded in careful explanation rather than claims that cannot be supported.
What we are looking for
Pitch an original piece that helps a general reader understand a particular object, material, craft choice, care habit or keepsake. We are interested in explainers, comparisons, histories, close observations and practical articles with a clearly bounded purpose. The subject should suit Lasting Insights rather than require readers to rely on professional advice.
Make the pitch specific
Tell us the working title, central question, main point and why it matters to readers. Include a short outline of the route the piece will take, any source material you expect to use and relevant experience you can accurately describe. Flag uncertainty, safety considerations and any commercial interests connected to the subject.
Originality and review
Send work that is your own and not presented as established fact without support. We may ask for clearer sourcing, revisions or a narrower scope. A pitch is a proposal, not a promise of publication, and we do not accept material that disguises advertising as independent editorial work.
Where to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please include your pitch in the message; do not send confidential material or anything you do not have permission to share.
Things become lasting through attention.
Use, care and memory change how we see an object. We look at those changes with curiosity, without treating age or endurance as proof of quality.
